Explore Social Worker Careers

Social workers are responsible for helping people function within their everyday lives, plain and simple. It doesn’t matter whether they are the clinical social worker diagnosing the issue or the direct-care social worker helping patients on a daily basis, without them, there are a great number of people who would be left with undiagnosed and untreated illnesses that would have a profound impact on their lives. Social work is not for everyone. There is no glamor or glory in being a social worker. You may not get your face in the newspaper or get to drive fancy cars, but your job will be just as if not more important to people than anything that could make you rich or famous. What you will get is a lot of self-satisfaction and the reward of knowing you have made a major positive difference in some person’s life. The work can be tiring and difficult, but people need social workers – they depend on social workers – so if you think you have what it takes, go for it, and there will be plenty of people who will thank you later.
